Young Missouri Resident Becomes a Fatality After Head-on Collision in Jasper County

Highway Patrol responded Tuesday afternoon to a 2-vehicle collsion on Cedar Road near Carthage, Missouri. Janiece Siebert was operating her vehicle eastbound on Cedar Road with her minor child as a passenger. Siebert ran her vehicle off of the right side of the road and overcorrected, causing her to lose control of her vehicle. Siebert's vehicle crossed the center line in to oncoming traffic, directly in to the path of 21 year old Chelsey Burgess who was traveling west on Cedar Road. The head on collsion caused immediate injury upon impact to both drivers. Both were rushed by ambulance to nearby hospitals. The injuries sustained by Chelsey Burgess were severe, ultimately ending her life at the hospital.
It is unknown at this time what caused Siebert to initially lose control of her vehicle and cause her vehicle to travel off of the roadway.
