Johnson County Driver Runs Stop Sign, Critically Injuring 3
Derek Voss (25, Kingsville, Missouri) was driving on NW 1601 Tuesday afternoon when hefailed to obey a stop sign and struck a vehicle being driving by Libbie Foeste (30, Sedalia, Missouri). Libbie Foeste was traveling on Highway 50 with 2 children in the car with her – Joseph Groat, 7, and Jade Groat, 4. Foeste and the 2 children were all wearing safety restraints, yet still sustained 'serious' injuries. All 3 were rushed to the nearest emergency rooms for medical attention.
It is unknown at this time if there was any reason behind Voss not properly stopping at the intersection. Our Johnson County car accident lawyers will continue to work with the Missouri State Highway Patrol to gather more information such as the possibility of mechanical failure, inattention, and/or alcohol or substance abuse.
When young children are involved in a motor vehicle crash, obtaining the best medical care is critical. Children are unable to voice and address symptoms of injury like adults do, and therefore require a complete physical exam. Pediatric specialists are able to evaluate a child's growing body, assessing any injury and how that injury may or may not affect their current growth. Children suffer many of the same effects that adults do after a motor vehicle crash and they are entitled to the same monetary repercussion of adults.
